Print out this kite coloring page and add a small stick person holding the string, some puffy white clouds on a blue sky, grass, trees, and maybe a bird or two!

Fly high with those kites!
Kites are fascinating for kids - something that flies that they (hopefully) can control if they go out on a breezy day to fly a kite! There's usually a good dose of help needed for younger kids to control their kites, but coloring kites and doing a bit of kite craft at home is fortunately a little easier!
Here are three kid kite crafts - links open a new window:
Easy Kids Craft: Origami Kites This is a nice idea from Craft Jr - a make-at-home origami kite, made with pretty paper, a toothpick, yarn, scrap fabric and tape. Simple instructions with helpful photos.
Easy kite decoration Crayola shows you how to make a kite for your kid to decorate their room or pop onto their bedroom door.
Of course, you can make your own decorative kites out of all sorts of materials - a grocery bag, printer paper, newspaper, or wrapping paper. Your child can decorate plain paper themselves, and you can use straws or wooden skewer sticks for smaller kites to give them a frame and make them look more realistic!
Make some kite bookmarks - great for gifts! Another lovely activity is to make a set of kite bookmarks. You can cut out several diamond shapes from card stock, get your child decorating them, then affix the tail using pretty ribbon. You can see some examples of kite bookmarks from Kidz Rule USA.
Two kite songs for kids
The Kite "Blow wind, blow, wind, fly, kite, fly!" This song is from the kids' songs site KIDiddles.
Or how about something that for some of you will be a little more familiar - with Let's Go Fly a Kite from Mary Poppins! Remember this? You'll be humming it all day!
