iPod touch games for kids

There are so many fantastic iPod touch games and kids' apps to choose from, including interactive story books, math and word games, coloring, dot to dot, memory and matching games!

Want iPhone games for your children?

So far, every kids' game I have found for iPod touch can also be played on iPhone, so there should be plenty of fun for everyone! But do be sure to check that the game or app you're interested in will work with your device... just in case!

As the proud new owner of an iPod touch, I'm going to tell you about the iPod touch games and apps I have found for kids. Some of them are free, others you have to purchase - or you can upgrade your free apps sometimes to the paid version to access all the features.

Do take note - not all games or apps are available everywhere around the world! Sometimes you might be interested in a game, but you'll find it's not available in your area. This occasionally happens to me, too. Never mind - there's plenty more choice - just move on to your next idea :)

Where to find kids' apps for iPhone or iPod touch

There are two ways you can search for apps. You may find some differences on your iPhone or iPod touch navigation depending on where you are in the world and what's available to you - and your iTunes store also may be a little different to mine, as I am based in Europe. But here's how I do it:

  • On your iPhone/iPod touch:

    1. Click the App Store icon. The App Store lets you browse and download apps directly to your iPhone or iPod touch.

    2. Select "Categories" from the menu at the bottom of the screen.

    3. Select "Games."

    4. Scroll down to "Kids" - or you might like to look at the "Education" or "Family" categories, too. The "Books" category features interactive books, so check that out, too.

    5. There's also a menu at the top of the screen allowing you to choose from free or paid apps.

  • Using iTunes on your computer:

    1. Open iTunes.

    2. Navigate to the iTunes Store.

    3. Locate the link to the App Store near the top of your screen.

    4. Hover over App Store and click on the Down arrow - a list of categories opens.

    5. Click on "Apps for Kids." Be sure to check that your chosen app is available for your device!
