Harry Potter provides magical fun for kids! They can get involved with the characters and story, even if they haven't read the books yet.
Harry Potter is rich in game subject matter - wand games, trivia games, and games using the arrow keys and mouse.
There's even an interactive virtual tour of Hogwarts and Hogsmead.
I've tried to choose games and activities which appeal both to younger kids, as well as adventurous seven or eight year olds who want to become Quidditch champions or accompany Hagrid on his motorbike!
Move from Hogwarts castle to Diagon Alley and back via the Vanishing Cabinet, and follow the hints to collect items for your inventory. Grab poster downloads as you succeed in each quest - it's really not difficult!
Harry Potter Motorbike Escape Here's the latest Harry Potter online game from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - and boy, is it an adrenalin pulsing super duper ride!
Play as Harry, riding in Hagrid's motorbike sidecar, flying through dark clouds in a bid to escape the Death Eaters and make your way safely to the burrow.
The animation is fantastic - and the action truly thrilling! And your child will need to use both hands for this game, one on the mouse to aim the wand, then click and shoot, and the other on the arrow keys to move around. Why not play together, one moving, the other shooting? We did and it was fab fun!
Remember to press the space bar for a dragon fire "boost" - whoooosh!
Harry Potter characters Also on the Lego website are these wonderful Harry Potter Lego characters, which kids can print and cut out to make Harry Potter character cards.
Some children will love to cut out a character, stick it onto paper and write what they know about him or her as part of their own Harry Potter magazine.
Molly Weasley also looks fab in her housewifely apron - what do you think, heh heh! They really are a great set of characters.
Harry Potter at Scholastic The Scholastic site organizes its Harry Potter games by book title, appropriately enough.
Starting with the Sorcerer's Stone, kids can practise a little wand magic, answer questions so that the Sorting Hat can decide which House they should be in, and if they are familiar with the book, there is also a trivia quiz.
The wand game for the Goblet of Fire is a little more tricky, as kids try to match clues to keys so that they can open Moody's Magical Trunk!
There's also a useful pronunciation guide of names and words from the Harry Potter books - kids click on each word or phrase and listen.
Harry Potter online games from Surfnetkids Try to avoid the Whomping Willow or drive the Knight Bus by using the arrow keys. The site also offers picture games and word games all based on Harry Potter.
Harry Potter Currency Collector Kids click three or more matching color Lego "studs" or coins in Gringotts Bank. You get kicked out of the bank if the studs reach the top of the vault!
First up, a set of fab Quidditch tryout games, just right for skilled Beaters, Chasers, Seekers or Keepers!
Next - simply sort Hippogriffs onto the correct perches.
Or match dishes of sausages, eggs and toast in the wild and wacky Weasley Kitchen game! This one's a tricky arrow key game ;)
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Virtual Tour Kids who just want to experience more of the world of Harry Potter will enjoy looking around this site. There are no games to play online yet, although there is a certain amount of interactivity.
If you enter Hogsmead from the Home Page map, you're greeted by the guard of the Hogwarts Express who will show you where to go!
Visit Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and whizz through the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, then enter the Portrait Gallery and hear the paintings talk.
In Dumbledore's Office, move the mouse to scan around the room. You can click on the "move here" signs and zoom in to see more. Empty a phial into the pensieve and watch film clips and the actors talking about the world, or click on the sign for Hogsmeade and fly through the window and into the village to take a quick virtual tour of the shops.
The graphics are beautiful - and of course everything is aimed at making you want to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando. I'm saving up, although we'd have to travel over from Europe, so it would be a big trip for us!
I do hope you and yours enjoy my selection of Harry Potter online games!
