A simple printable fish coloring page gets kids using their imagination with color and background.

fishing game

Fishing set game

Here's a fab fishing game we play outside when the weather's fine!

It uses a kids' magnetic fishing set, and there are various ways of playing with it.

1. Just fish and have fun!
Nothing too complicated here, and ideal for kids who don't need a competitive element. Fill a plastic bowl with water and pop your fishies in. Take it in turns to fish, and clap whenever you or your child catch a fish. Couldn't be easier!

2. Timed challenge
Set a timer for one minute, for example - depends how many fish you have! Can you catch all the fish in the bowl?

Alternatively, time your child as they fish out their catch, then see if you can beat their time. You know who's going to win, don't you ;)

3. Fish for points
Last year we stuck numbers onto the fish to show how many points you get for catching each fish. The bigger fish were only worth one point, the smaller ones that are more difficult to catch were worth three points.

Prepare a sheet of paper with your names so that you can write down the points, as you'll probably be playing this one again and again as you try to improve your time.

We decided on a time limit and then each of us raced to catch as many fish with as many points as quickly as possible!

We all ended up laughing so much as the fishing line got tangled, water started to drip everywhere - and even the fish seemed to start enjoying themselves!
