Even though you may send your Christmas cards the traditional snail-mail route, it can be fun to send a few Christmas e-cards to surfing-mad uncles or even grannies!
My son's grandmother is an enthusiastic "silver surfer" and although she will certainly want a "real" Christmas card and photo in the post, she'll also have a lot of fun receiving a card online!
Kids' Yahoo! offers free kid Christmas e-cards - their current selection features Polar Express, the Flintstones, and more festive-themed cards. All you have to do is fill in who the card is to and from, and the email address of the recipient - there is no message option here.
Christmas books hold a special place in my childhood memories - the thrill of looking at pictures of mystery wrapped gifts and trying to guess what they were; scanning the illustrations of Santa's journey to see if I could find my own house within the snowy fields... and gazing wide-eyed at a fabulous Christmas tree laden with presents and ornaments, drinking in the richness of the scene!
Children's imaginations just run riot with a good book. Reading together is one of the best kinds of Christmas activities for kids - so I've chosen a selection of kids' Christmas books from Amazon for you to take a look at - see if your imagination starts running away with you, too!

Decorate a kiddie Christmas tree
Why not have an extra Christmas tree this year - kiddie sized?
Once the kids are all home for the holiday, get them busy with a smaller tree, ornaments, candy, the whole kaboodle - and let them decorate to their hearts' content. Use the craft ideas and links suggested above and make some of your own tree decorations first!
Things can get to the stage where you just can't see the tree... so keep an eye on things :)
Watch TV episodes/DVDs on your PC
Christmas activities for kids involving TV or movies are starting to take on a whole new look with Amazon Unbox.

Go for a Christmas walk
Getting out with the little ones for a bracing walk can be good fun, too!
Get dressed up (or down, if you're in warmer climes) and head off to the nearest park or beach. Take the sled if there's snow, a bag to put some twigs, leaves or other interesting items from Mother Nature's store, and your camera, of course.
Get baking!
Or assembling and decorating, as this gingerbread house shows.
Try these Gingerbread house recipes from Kids' Cooking Activities - here you'll find a gingerbread and buttercream frosting recipe, as well as a downloadable gingerbread house template.
Christmas cookies, fairy cakes, icing and sprinkles - why not put one afternoon aside before Christmas to have a baking session with your kids?
You can keep the results to eat yourselves - or package some up prettily to give away in a little Christmas gift basket (made by you and yours!)
