Cake coloring ideas
There are lots of ways to color this picture:
Your child can color the cake tiers various colors, and then the frosting a different set of colors. A kind of tutti-frutti effect! Or for a more classic style, color the cake tiers one color, and the frosting another, keeping the coloring nicely inside the lines so that the cake looks perfectly baked and frosted!
Decide what color or colors the candles will be - and what color are the little flames on top?
More advanced little artists may decide to decorate the cake further. They might color in the cake first with pencil crayons, then use bolder markers to add dots, zig-zags, little circles, flower shapes, letters, numbers... or stars around each tier of the cake!
If you're baking a cake at home, this is a nice picture for kids to color to keep them busy until it's ready! Once they've licked the frosting bowl and treated themselves to some sprinkles, they can settle down for a little coloring while you... clear up... or put your feet up!
Make party placemats - the picture above is great for a five year old party. For another age, you could use the printable in the Crayola site mentioned below. Stick your printable to cardstock, and have your little guests at the start of the party color in their own placemats. Put each child's name on the back as they're busy, so you know who did what when they sit down for their tea :)
