Baby games stimulate and nurture your child, providing a wonderful opportunity for parents to enjoy time with this new addition to the family!
Baby activities are good for your baby!
It's believed that the things babies learn very early in life are remembered many years later, and that stimulating activities can help shape a baby's brain to work more effectively in the future.
Great!
We already know, instinctively, that baby games and activities are vital for the well-being of our little ones. It's true that as a first-time parent, you can often be at a loss to know what to do with your newborn.
I'm not sure that Mother Nature helps everybody play effortlessly with their new addition when other considerations such as a difficult birth, lack of sleep or financial worries are taken into account.
Despite this, most of us will still cuddle our babies, kiss them, tickle their noses and rub their toes. And this is the beginning of a new relationship which will, I hope, include many moments of fun and laughter as you play baby games together.
Baby games are a great way to relax with your child
Having a new baby around can be quite stressful, but once baby is awake and fed and happy, you can enjoy each other's company by playing simple games together.
Whether you use baby toys, songs, books or massage, your baby will absolutely love getting your attention and finding out about you.
And this is the way you can begin to discover the personality of your baby. What makes her laugh? What does she enjoy? What does she find frightening? How is she developing? Baby games not only provide special moments during the day, but also give you many precious memories in the years to come.
Everything you do with your baby expresses your love
Babies love quiet and calm - loud, energy-filled activities can be saved for much later. Never throw your baby into the air and beware of over-stimulating your baby.
They will show you when they have had enough by becoming fussy or crying. It's a tiring business being a baby, let alone a mum or dad! Play time should also be a gentle time, saved for when baby is alert.
Remember, all babies are different
They all have different ages for different stages. You know your child. And although I have suggested games for particular months, most of these games can be played with your child whenever they are ready throughout the first year.
When I think about all the kids' games on my site, I have a soft spot for baby games. Just think. The way you play with your baby now can lay solid foundations for the years to come. So - let's get playing!
